The University of Maryland Counseling Center
Established in 1937, the University of Maryland Counseling Center, within the Division of Student Affairs, is the primary campus agency responsible for the provision of emotional, social, educational and career counseling and disability support services. It serves a diverse University community of over 36,000 students and more than 4,000 members of the faculty and staff. The Center employs a staff of 58, which includes 29 professional staff, 6 support staff, 4 doctoral interns and several graduate assistants. The Counseling Center is comprised of four divisions, which includes the: (1) Counseling Service; (2) Learning Assistance Service; (3) Disability Support Service; (4) Research Unit and the Testing Office. The Counseling Center is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS), and holds American Psychological Association (APA) accreditation for its Intern Training Program.
