Agrace Hospice, in Madison, Wisconsin, is one of the largest and finest not-for-profit community based hospice and palliative care organizations in the country and is seeking a Chief Medical Officer to join their leadership team. The CMO is responsible for the provision of consistent and high quality hospice and palliative medical services. The CMO sets the medical standards and protocols as well as effective systems of monitoring accountability for medical practice at Agrace. As a member of the executive leadership team reporting to the CEO, the CMO drives agency-wide strategy development and execution toward achieving Agrace’s mission and vision of excellence in the provision of hospice and palliative care.
At Agrace, physicians enjoy strong partnerships with area hospitals and medical practices and a collaborative working relationship with the interdisciplinary teams of Agrace professionals; comprehensive in-home, inpatient, respite and residential hospice care and community, clinic and hospital-based palliative care consultation; interaction with our joint hospice and palliative care fellowship program with the University of Wisconsin Hospital and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital provides opportunities for the CMO to be a part of the adjunct faculty at UW. With two state-of-the-art inpatient facilities in Madison and Janesville, WI and a hospice residence, the CMO will have a tremendous impact in how people are cared for at the end of their lives in the Madison, WI region.
1. Board certification or Board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine preferred; unrestricted narcotic license (DEA); with experience in hospice or palliative practice preferred and Current unrestricted MD or DO Wisconsin State license to practice medicine required. 2. Minimum of 7 years of leadership and supervisory experience in an administrative position, including full accountability for quality and financial outcomes, preferably in a hospice, home health or related program. 3. Minimum of 3 years of senior leadership experience in a sizeable organization, including experience working as part of a cross-functional leadership team, developing organizational culture, strategy and policy. 4. Knowledge and experience with health care delivery systems, policies, accreditation standards, government audits, laws, regulations and reimbursement practices required; hospice-specific knowledge and experience preferred. 5. Experience with electronic health record software required
