Health Sciences Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor – Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic
The University of California, Davis, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting for two (2)Health Sciences Assistant/Associate Clinical Professors to serve as teaching attending physicians in its Adult Outpatient Clinic with a culturally diverse patient population. The applicant(s) will also be supervising general psychiatry residents with their adult cases, and both general and combined residents in IM/Psych FM/Psych. Time is allocated for didactic teaching, case conferences, and supervision. In addition, the applicant(s) will engage in scholarly or creative activities derived from and in support of their clinical teaching, professional and service activities. The candidates will also evaluate and treat their own patients.
Requirements for this position include an MD, board certification in general psychiatry, a California Medical license (or eligibility for licensure in the State of California). Teaching and supervisory experience of residents, fellows, and medical students is preferred, as well as experience supervising adult psychiatry residents/fellows, general psychiatry residents, and medical students. This recruitment is conducted at the assistant/associate rank in the health sciences clinical professor series, and the resulting hires will be at the assistant/associate rank in this series regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has approximately 65 residents in six residency training programs and 90 faculty and staff psychiatrists and psychologists at the UC Davis Medical Center and the Northern California VA Health System. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UC Davis has rapidly grown over the last several years, more than doubling the size of its faculty and staff to approximately 80 psychiatrists, psychologists, and scientists and approximately 300 employees. The Department's administrative offices, outpatient clinic, and education office are located at 2230 Stockton Blvd., directly across from the UC Davis Medical Center. The Department also has a child and adolescent psychiatry clinic located next door at 2348 Stockton Blvd. The Department's forensic division and psychosomatic medicine service are located at 2348 Stockton Blvd. Finally, a number of Department faculty are located at the MIND Institute and Imaging Research Center in Sacramento as well as the Center for Neuroscience on the UC Davis campus. The Department provides clinical services at a number of locations throughout the greater Sacramento area. The psychosomatic medicine service provides services in the main hospital. Outpatient services are provided on the first floor of the 2230 Stockton Blvd. site. Department faculty are assigned to the intake and inpatient psychiatry units at the Sacramento County Mental ...Health Treatment Center campus, located a block away at 2150 Stockton Blvd. Faculty and residents also provide services at three County of Sacramento regional clinics, a cross-cultural outpatient clinic, and a homeless mentally ill clinic, and the 2348 Stockton Blvd. child and Adolescent psychiatry clinic.
