Chief Nurse Executive/Director of Patient Care Services in Springfield, MA
We have an immediate need for a Chief Nurse Executive/Director of Patient Care Services. This senior management position requires a wide range of leadership and professional abilities. We are looking for a seasoned nurse executive who is confident, decisive yet flexible, able to mentor developing leaders and has a supportive approach to staff in the face of significant change. Advanced problem solving and analytical skills with proven experience in transformational change is preferred. The position has responsibility for all clinical patient care units and has about one dozen direct reports. Candidate shall possess strong understanding of patient care delivery models, healthcare policy, healthcare financing, outcome measurement and risk management. CNO candidate will demonstrate the ability to use systems thinking, change management and have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in leading patient safety and quality initiatives as well as a continuous state of regulatory readiness. The position reports directly to the hospital Administrator with a dotted line to the SHC Chief Nursing Officer.
Broad nursing and hospital experience is necessary. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience in Care Management, Outpatient Practice Management, Inpatient Rehabilitation and Performance Improvement. You will play a key role in assessing, planning and developing systems to support the strategic plan launched in 2016 along with developing new strategic initiatives. Considerable independent judgment is required to carry out assignments that have significant impact on emerging or established service lines. The CNO candidate will possess strong communication skills and excel in relationship building and managing. They will promote an environment conducive to opinion sharing. Experience collaborating with a seasoned medical staff is essential; working collaboratively with the Chief of Staff is essential for success of delivering medical and surgical care safely and the successful candidate will effectively demonstrate experience and outcome with physician leaders. Participation in community-based events is also part of our expectations.
Must have current RN license for state of MA, BSN and be mastered prepared or in process. Advanced certification highly desirable.
Must have 7-10 years of experience in a leadership role in an acute care hospital, solid clinical knowledge base and comfortable working in a matrix organization. Experience growing a rehabilitation and ambulatory service line is a plus.
Maintains effective communication with all nursing and other hospital personnel; physicians, board members and stakeholders; strives for the advancement of the nursing profession within the community and on the local, state, and national level.
Maintains awareness of legislation affecting nursing practice and implements practice or process changes as needed; acts as a resource person for the hospital related to nursing standards and practices.
