Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Certified Nurse Practitioner (APRN-CNP) - Occupational Health
UI Health is seeking to hire an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Certified Nurse Practitioner (APRN-CNP) Occupational Health. Under supervision of the Director of Physician Practice, the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Certified Nurse Practitioner (APRN-CNP) Occupational Health, administers pre-placement, surveillance, foreign travel, return to work, fitness for duty and disability evaluations and provides treatment to ill and injured patients. Participates in a variety of preventive health and safety programs for University employees.
Administers pre placement, surveillance, foreign travel, return to work, fitness for duty and disability health assessments and provide necessary treatment within established. Recommends restrictions when needed.
Provides Consultation for COVID-19 Response Teams. Assists with the PhysIQ monitoring as needed.
Case manages employees with disabilities where it relates to complicated return to work issues, transitional work and substance abuse rehabilitation.
Provides assessment and treatment of work related illness and injury established guidelines and refers to attending physician / collaborative practice partner or outside specialists when needed.
Assists in the management of the medical surveillance programs, coordinating the assessment schedule and reporting on compliance.
Participate in preventive health programs by communicating preventive health and safety information to employees, delivering in-services to employees regarding occupational health and safety issues, and contributing to surveillance and wellness programs.
Assist in the development and revisions of protocols to reflect nurse practice guidelines, assist in developing advance practice guidelines and recommends revisions for guidelines impacted by regulatory changes.
Represent UHS in campus wide committees when the Manager/ Nurse Practitioner is not available, as needed.
Participate in the Occupational Health and Safety Institute (OHSI) research studies and assists with client needs as needed.
Utilizes the Agility data base by imputing employee data, running reports and analyzing data as required. Continually.
o Audiometric testing for employees in hearing conservation o Spirometry o EKG o Breath Alcohol testing (BAT) o Venipuncture or other specimen collection o Titmus and Snellen vision tests o Fit testing for the N95 respirator
Implements regulatory surveillance assessments for TB, other infectious disease exposures, blood borne pathogen exposures, biological or chemical research, hearing, respiratory protection, and asbestos.
Coordinates and preforms tests in UHS (refer to C.3)
Coordinates referrals for outside testing.
Records data in Agility.
Review incoming laboratory and other diagnostic study reports.
Initiate follow up in cases with abnormal results.
Provides education to employees.
Utilizes the Agility EMR through imputing employee data, charting, running reports and analyzing data as needed.
Precept Nurse Practitioner students from the College of Nursing and assist in the orientation of Occupational Medicine Residents as needed.
Graduation from accredited APRN program required.
Current license as a Professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois required.
Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
A minimum of 1 year experience in clinical practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, preferably in an occupational health or emergency room setting. Licensed in the state of Illinois.
Needs to hold current APRN Licensure, Controlled Substance Licensure and RN Licensure and be Certified as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner focus preferred. DEA preferred, COHN-S preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate in an oral and written manner.
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain professional relationships with members of the health care team, patients and other University personnel.
Assume responsibility for continuing education and professional growth relevant to occupational health nursing.
