Assist with the successful daily operation of a specific department to include inventory control, training and scheduling of staff, customer service, and records maintenance.
Provide limited buying support
Prepare merchandising orders from established inventories
Prepare new merchandise orders for the manager's review
Purchase from a previously published list of merchandise
Work with vendor representatives to prepare order from inventory reports
Assist Manager in supervision of staff
Train and schedule Sales Associates and student workers
Assign and review work of sales staff
Assist manager with staff evaluations and disciplinary action, as necessary.
Assist customers on sales floor and at customer service stations
Recognize needs with regard to merchandise location, pricing, and selection
Handle customer problems efficiently and politely to the customer's satisfaction
Receive and process phone and online orders with a prompt and courteous manner.
Work sales floor and assist customers with questions regarding merchandise.
Ensure sufficient stock levels, appropriately priced for customer satisfaction
Conduct inventory of stock on a regular schedule as established by the buyer
Maintain accurate inventory records
Recognize reorder needs
Notify buyer and assist in placing reorders
Assist in identifying and processing merchandise to be returned to vendor for credit
Assist in receiving and pricing incoming merchandise
Notify buyer of any discrepancies
Assist in repricing stock such as markdowns, markups, etc.
Maintain accurate records of price changes, etc.
Handles daily sales transactions on the cash register.
Perform customer purchase transactions quickly and accurately
Count and balance cash register till as necessary
Executes daily opening and closing procedures
