This position is located in the Geriatrics & Extended Care (GEC) Service Line of the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS) with primary assignment to the Home-Based Primary Care Program (HBPC). The VA HBPC program provides comprehensive, interdisciplinary primary care services in the homes of veterans with complex and chronic, disabling disease. In addition to primary care interventions, HBPC provides palliative care, rehabilitation, disease management, and care coordination services. There is one vacancy for this position and the selectee can work from either Flagstaff or Kingman, stated pay is for Flagstaff. If placement is done in Kingman the pay will be based one the Kingman pay scale $93,519 - $121,574.Duties of the position include but are not limited to: Providing screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of depressive and anxiety-related disorders, as well as other Axis I conditions, with an emphasis on the application of time-limited, evidence-based approaches. Assessing and providing treatment for subclinical symptoms of dysphoria and anxiety, adjustment difficulties, and excessive use or misuse of alcohol or other drugs (for which the patient may have a lower than normal tolerance due to their medical conditions and the potential for negative interactions with prescribed medication). Providing psychological prevention services to patients at significant risk for psychological problems. Providing services to the families of veterans with dementia being served by HBPC, when such care is directly related to the overall treatment plan for the veteran and will allow better care for the veteran and allow the family to sustain the veteran in the home environment. Being involved in Psychology Internship Training Program or training of practicum students. Serving as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and assist in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their patients. Assuming responsibility for professional development by attending relevant training and regularly reviewing the literature to improve clinical competencies and meeting professional continuing education requirements to maintaining current competence and licensure Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Telework: Maybe available after six months at the discretion of the director.
